Canon has introduced the EOS R6 Mark III, a new full-frame camera with notable improvements over the R6 Mark II. It delivers a higher resolution of 32.5 megapixels compared to 24 megapixels on its predecessor, thanks to a newly developed sensor combined with the DIGIC X processor.
The EOS R6 Mark III maintains a fast continuous shooting speed of 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter, despite the increase in resolution. It also features an expanded RAW image buffer that can hold up to 150 images. Additionally, the “Pre-shooting” function captures 20 images before the shutter is fully pressed.
This model supports an ISO range of up to 64,000 and offers a sensor crop mode to simulate focal length extension, which reduces resolution but enhances reach.
The autofocus system recognizes complex subjects such as trains, airplanes, and horses with improved accuracy. It can differentiate between more animal types like cats and dogs. The camera supports prioritized tracking for up to ten faces, benefiting portrait and event photographers.
The autofocus reportedly works reliably down to -6.5 EV.
An internal image stabilizer compensates up to 8.5 stops when using the electronic shutter. The video functions have also been enhanced, expanding the camera’s recording capabilities.
Author's Summary: The Canon EOS R6 Mark III elevates performance with higher resolution, faster shooting, improved autofocus, and expanded video features, making it a versatile tool for advanced photographers and videographers.
