The iconic reality TV show Big Brother Australia will make its comeback on Channel 10 in 2025. The upcoming season promises new energy and surprises, with host Mel Tracina sharing hints about what viewers can look forward to.
According to Mel Tracina, the cast for the new season spans a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The final line-up remains under wraps, but diversity is a clear focus for the production.
“It’s ranging from a grandmother to a single mum to a barber to a self-confessed bogan,” Mel Tracina revealed. “We have blue-collar workers and white-collar workers. We have a diverse range.”
Big Brother Australia originally premiered in 2001 and ran for eight seasons before concluding in 2008. Channel Nine revived it in 2012 for three seasons, followed by a five-season run on Channel Seven before its cancellation in 2024 due to declining ratings.
On September 16, 2024, Network 10 confirmed that the show would return with fresh ideas and renewed energy. Tracina emphasized that the show’s inclusive nature remains its strongest appeal.
“You don’t need to fit certain criteria to be in the house,” she said. “You don’t need to be physically or mentally strong, like you would on Survivor. You don’t need to be single, like you would on MAFS.”
The 2025 season of Big Brother Australia promises a diverse mix of contestants and a revived spirit under Channel 10’s direction, aiming to reignite interest in the long-running franchise.
