In an important step for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gérald Caussé has been appointed as the newest apostle, marking a significant moment in the church's leadership.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Gérald Caussé serves as the church's 15th presiding bishop and is the third in this role born outside the United States. Since October 2015, he has overseen the church’s real estate, financial, investment, and humanitarian efforts. His French origin adds diversity to the leadership, now including two other European apostles: Dieter F. Uchtdorf from Germany and Patrick Kearon from Britain.
"I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life."
This strong faith in Christ underpins his new role as an apostle.
Caussé is entrusted with supervising the church’s broad financial assets, a responsibility that has drawn public attention in recent years. Alongside financial management, he is recognized for his commitment to environmental stewardship, bringing new perspectives to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Gérald Caussé’s appointment signifies a blend of spiritual dedication and financial expertise, enhancing the LDS Church’s leadership with global perspective and stewardship values.
