Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was arrested on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting after a celebrity boxing event in Miami, police confirmed on Thursday.
Antonio Brown, 37, was taken into custody in Dubai by U.S. Marshals, according to Miami police spokesman Mike Vega. He was then flown to Essex County, New Jersey, where he remains held pending extradition to Miami.
It is uncertain why Brown was brought to New Jersey first or how long he had been in Dubai. Brown had recently shared several posts on social media indicating he was in Dubai.
An arrest warrant related to the May 16 incident states that after the boxing match, Brown allegedly took a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots at a man with whom he had a prior physical altercation.
"Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer after the boxing match and firing two shots at a man he had gotten into a fistfight with earlier."
Summary: Antonio Brown was arrested abroad and is held in New Jersey on an attempted murder charge tied to a Miami shooting after a recent boxing event, awaiting extradition.
