— Mike Vega, Miami Police spokesperson, quoted by NBC News.
Authorities had been seeking Brown for several months due to his suspected involvement in a shooting that occurred on May 16 near an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Video footage from the scene appeared to show Brown in a confrontation moments before multiple gunshots were fired.
He was briefly detained at that time but released without charges. In June, law enforcement issued a warrant for his arrest, granting him an opportunity to surrender in exchange for a $10,000 bond and house arrest. Brown ignored the order, leading to his eventual extradition and detention.
According to reports, Brown’s trial is expected to begin soon. He could potentially face a murder charge if convicted.
Just a week before his arrest, the 37-year-old athlete posted a sponsored video for the online betting platform BC Game on Instagram. In the clip, he was seen driving a black Lamborghini at an unknown location, maintaining his signature carefree demeanor.
