The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Announces Ordination of Gérald Caussé as New Apostle

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Thursday the calling and ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, has served as the Church’s presiding bishop for the past decade. In that role, he oversaw humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, management of church facilities, and the organization of membership records.

His previous service includes positions as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and as a member of the General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012.

With this appointment, Caussé becomes the fourth member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to be born outside the United States, joining Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Czech Republic, Ulisses Soares of Brazil, and Patrick Kearon of England.
