Annandale Tenant’s Poppy Art Display at St Editha’s Church for Remembrance Sunday

A heartfelt display of remembrance and community spirit will feature prominently at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday, led by Maureen, a tenant at Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.

Intergenerational Poppy Installation

Maureen, 76, created a stunning poppy-themed art installation with help from her daughter and granddaughter. This collaborative project will be proudly exhibited at the church entrance.

Community and Personal Connection

Maureen developed her poppy display in the Annandale communal lounge, supported by her family and Tamworth Borough Council’s Scheme Manager. The lounge became a creative space filled with handcrafted poppies, each symbolizing the bravery, sacrifice, and service of those honored on Remembrance Sunday. The project holds special meaning for Maureen, reflecting her own time in service.

Recognition and Ceremony

Maureen will have the privilege of accompanying the Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor Chris Bains, during the Remembrance Sunday ceremony at St Editha’s Church.

“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”

— Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor Chris Bains
