Three Prisoners Charged with Murder of Kyle Bevan

Three men have been charged with murder following the death of Kyle Bevan at HMP Wakefield.

Court Appearances

Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, appeared separately via video link at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Friday. Each was remanded into custody and is due to appear again at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.

Each hearing lasted just over a minute. District Judge Charlotte Holland ordered their custody ahead of the pre-trial preparation hearing.

Background on Kyle Bevan

Kyle Bevan died at HMP Wakefield on 5 November. He was serving a minimum 28-year sentence for the murder of Lola James, a two-year-old girl in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Bevan inflicted catastrophic head injuries on the toddler during a six-hour assault in 2020.
