Many famous individuals have achieved great success despite not completing high school. Their stories show that a diploma is not the only path to accomplishment.
The star of The Bear, Jeremy Allen White, recently shared a touching moment related to his education. On the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, he explained that he never graduated because he didn’t attend school regularly at the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City.
“I wasn’t a good student because I didn’t go to school enough.”
At the New York City premiere of his movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, an old teacher surprised him with a gift—his high school diploma. Jeremy said,
“And I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ And I open it up, and it is my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”
Nicole Kidman, who has won two Oscars, has expressed regret about leaving school before graduating. In an interview on 60 Minutes, she admitted,
“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say. I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”
By the age of 15, Kidman was determined to pursue an acting career and moved to Los Angeles to follow her dreams.
These stories reveal how perseverance and determination can lead to success, even without completing formal education.
