Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla announced the devastating loss of their baby daughter. The pitcher shared the news on Friday through a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Our little angel, we love you forever, and you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
Vesia expressed gratitude to the Dodgers organization for their support and understanding during this difficult time, emphasizing the comfort he and his wife received from the baseball community.
“Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen all your messages, comments and posts — it’s brought us so much comfort.”
The couple also extended appreciation to the medical team who assisted Kayla and their daughter Sterling at Cedars-Sinai.
“Lastly, we’d like to thank Cedars-Sinai and all the medical staff who helped Kayla and Sterling. Every person we came across was truly incredible.”
Alongside the statement, Vesia shared a black-and-white photo showing Sterling’s tiny hand resting on top of her parents’ hands. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Vesia had been away from the team since October 23, when the Dodgers announced he and his wife were facing a deeply personal matter.
