After a challenging road defeat against unbeaten Harvard, the Dartmouth Big Green football team aims to rebound at home against the Princeton Tigers this Saturday.
Dartmouth fell 31-10 to Harvard last weekend, with the Crimson's dynamic offense and strong defense keeping their undefeated record intact. Despite the loss, Dartmouth showed resilience, especially in the third quarter, reigniting hope for upcoming games.
“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” said head coach Sammy McCorkle. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Chris Corbo ’26, a 2024 All-Ivy First Team tight end, emphasized the team's offensive potential despite the setback.
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone,” Corbo said. “We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 highlighted the increased quarterback pressure as a key positive against Harvard, aiming to replicate this in the upcoming game.
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing,” Johnson said.
The Big Green remains focused on improving execution and capitalizing on momentum to challenge Princeton this Saturday.
Summary: Dartmouth football, after a tough loss to Harvard, is determined to build on its moments of strength and improve execution as they face Princeton this weekend.
