The Panthers women’s soccer team concluded a challenging season with a surprising victory over No. 1 Notre Dame at Ambrose Urbanic Field last week. The winning goal came in the 85th minute when senior forward Margaret Wilde delivered a late corner kick, which junior defender Mya Archibald headed cleanly inside the left post to take the lead.
Junior goalkeeper Abby Reisz was outstanding, making six saves, including a critical stop in the first half that halted Notre Dame’s early momentum.
Notre Dame needed only a win or draw to secure the ACC regular-season title, with the trophy literally waiting beneath Ambrose Urbanic Field. However, Pitt played with determination and willpower.

The Panthers finished the season 6-10-2 overall with only two ACC wins, facing struggles to maintain consistency in one of the nation’s toughest women's soccer conferences.
Nonetheless, their victory against Notre Dame provided a memorable boost to an otherwise difficult year.
