At the 2025 League of Legends World Championship in Chengdu, Riot Games and French studio Fortiche, known for Arcane, premiered Twilight’s End, the cinematic concluding this year’s League of Legends storyline.
The narrative follows key characters LeBlanc, Vladimir, and Xin Zhao. Since January 2025, their story has unfolded across four cinematics: Welcome to Noxus, Dark Gambit, Beginning of the End, and now Twilight’s End.
The cinematic centers on the climactic battle for the Darkin Glaive. It begins with a fierce fight inside the Spirit Temple during the “spirit blossom bloom” in Ionia’s physical world. Xin Zhao and temple guardian Yunara strive to stop Atakhan, an ally of LeBlanc, from capturing the ancient glaive that holds the Darkin Zaahen.
“In the chaos of the battle, Xin Zhao comes into contact with the artifact. He is instantly transported to the realm where Zaahen is imprisoned.”
Warning of a catastrophic future where LeBlanc and Atakhan prevail leading to Demacia’s ruin, Xin Zhao pleads with Zaahen to inhabit his body to prevent this doom.
For this project, Fortiche developed new visual elements inspired by Ionia’s magic and mysticism to enhance the cinematic experience.
Author's summary: Fortiche and Riot Games deliver a stunning finale with Twilight’s End, blending rich lore and innovative visuals to close 2025’s epic League of Legends saga.
