The Seattle Kraken secured a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday, with key contributions from Matty Beniers, Jordan Eberle, and Jamie Oleksiak.
Early in the second period, Oleksiak fired a wrist shot from the blue line that slipped through a pack of players, including goalie Söderblom.
Following a tripping penalty on Chicago’s Ryan Donato, Seattle capitalized just eight seconds into the power play when Eberle set up Beniers for a goal in the slot.
“Oleksiak snapped a wrist shot from the blue line, and it snuck through a cluster of players, including Söderblom.”
In the third period, Chicago’s Burakovsky, previously with the Kraken until an offseason trade, scored on a breakaway assisted by Connor Bedard.
Seattle sealed their win late when Eberle scored his team-leading fifth goal after a Hawks turnover in the neutral zone.
“Eberle pushed Seattle’s advantage back up to two goals late in the third period.”
Burakovsky spent the last three seasons with Seattle before being traded to Chicago in exchange for Joe Veleno.
Author’s summary: The Kraken’s balanced attack and timely scoring helped them top the Blackhawks 3-1 despite André Burakovsky’s goal against his former team.
