Lewis Hamilton has firmly stated that he has “nothing to do with” Felipe Massa’s ongoing legal battle concerning the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship.
Felipe Massa is seeking £64 million in damages, claiming loss of earnings and sponsorship due to the controversial events during the 2008 season. The dispute centers on the so-called ‘Crashgate’ scandal at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix which Massa argues cost him the title.
After a three-day court hearing, it was announced that the final judgment would be “reserved to be handed down at a future date.”
Massa’s lawsuit was prompted by a 2023 interview given by former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone. In it, Ecclestone implied that he and Max Mosley, then FIA president, knew about the incident but chose not to intervene.
Bernie Ecclestone has since stated that he does not recall giving the interview.
Lewis Hamilton has distanced himself from Felipe Massa’s £64m lawsuit over the controversial 2008 F1 title, emphasizing his lack of involvement as the court delays final judgment.
