Rod Stewart's Wife Penny Shares Emotional Family Insight
Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster share two children, though the father of eight was initially hesitant about having more kids when they met in the 1990s. Penny, 54, reflected on their home life with an emotional description of their early days as parents.
Their Relationship and Family Life
Penny celebrated her 18th wedding anniversary with 80-year-old Rod earlier this year. The couple met in 1999, and their relationship grew over time. Rod proposed in 2005 during a romantic trip to Paris, and they married in 2007 at the medieval monastery La Cervara in Portofino, Italy.

Challenges with Newborn Alastair
Penny described keeping Alastair’s Moses basket by their bed while on tour. She revealed the baby’s colic was particularly distressing. In her book Someone Like Me, Penny wrote:
“Every afternoon at exactly 4pm he’d give a shrill scream that sounded as though he was dying.”
“In the end the only thing that would calm him was the sound of Rod’s Great American Songbook collection gently playing. I can only think that hearing it took Alastair back to the security of the womb, as I’d been in the studio to listen to Rod recording when I’d been pregnant.”
