We are upgrading the Met Office app to provide clearer, simpler, and more user-friendly weather forecasts and warnings. Since 2016, the current app has helped millions stay safe and informed about the weather.
However, advances in technology and outdated infrastructure have made it challenging to enhance the app experience further. You asked for a more modern, streamlined design that quickly delivers key weather information. We listened and rebuilt the app from scratch.
What’s New in the Refreshed App
- Uses a modern framework for faster updates and a consistent design on both iOS and Android
- Simpler layout, improved accessibility, all inspired by your feedback
- View weather forecasts for your area up to 7 days ahead and hourly updates for the next hour
- Save favourite locations for quick access and notifications
- Receive instant alerts for severe weather warnings, including rain, wind, ice, and heat
- See pollen levels and types throughout the UK pollen season
- Explore interactive maps showing cloud cover, rain, and temperature for the next 5 days
- Access detailed weather information like feels-like temperature, wind speed, humidity, visibility, and UV levels
