Hospital wards are often noisy environments, even during the night, which negatively impacts patient recovery times. In the UK, the Silent Hospital Pilot Project— a joint initiative between the NHS and DNV Imatis— is testing an innovative solution.
The project replaces traditional bells that patients use to call nurses or midwives with alerts sent directly to medical staff's mobile phones on an antenatal ward.
This new system leads to better-rested mothers and newborns, quicker recoveries, and more efficient patient care overall.
The Silent Hospital Pilot Project "replaces the bells patients ring to attract the attention of nurses or midwives with alerts that are sent directly to staff’s mobile phones."
Summary: Implementing silent alert systems in hospitals reduces noise, enabling better rest for patients and faster recoveries while enhancing healthcare efficiency.
