ABBOFSORD, B.C. — Rookie forward Igor Chernyshov scored his first professional hat trick, and goaltender Jakub Skarek stopped all 27 shots he faced as the San Jose Barracuda dominated the Abbotsford Canucks 7–0 on Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Centre.
This shutout marked San Jose’s most commanding win of the season, extending their winning streak to three games and their points streak to five.
The 19-year-old Chernyshov wasn’t finished in the third period, adding two more goals including a power-play score with under four minutes remaining to complete the hat trick.
"Chernyshov finished with a game-high seven shots and now leads the team with six goals on the season."
Jakub Skarek’s perfect performance in goal was key to the Barracuda’s decisive victory.
