Big Win for Team Behind the Tram Train Project

The Heriot-Watt student who led the tram train study has won The Princess Royal Award for Emerging Engineers.

The final year students’ project explores the feasibility of using tram-trains to reopen Edinburgh’s South Suburban Railway to passengers.

Lead student, Corey Boyle, made a presentation which won against entries from 12 Institution of Civil Engineers regions in the UK and overseas.

Boyle dedicated the award to Natalia Salajska, a member of the project team who sadly passed away recently.

The award, presented by the ICE, celebrates the communication of outstanding engineering ideas, research, and best practice in project design.
