Den Helder woman breaks record on breathalyzer test; Nearly six times over the limit

Record-Breaking Breathalyzer Test in Den Helder

A 37-year-old woman from Den Helder broke a record on Saturday with a breathalyzer test result of 1340 µg/l, equivalent to 2.9 per mille alcohol.

In the Netherlands, the legal limit is 0.5 per mille alcohol in the blood. The woman was pulled over by police on Molenstraat due to her driving behavior.

“Unfortunately, this is not a record to be proud of,”

said the police, noting that the incident occurred in the middle of the day. The woman's driver's license was confiscated, and she acknowledged struggling with an alcohol addiction.

“We sincerely wish her strength and success in working through her alcohol addiction,”

said the police, adding that they hope she does not get behind the wheel again. The woman now tops the list of drunk drivers this year.
