Windows 10 EOL: Media Creation Tool Fails Just Before Support Ends
Microsoft has run into a timing issue right before Windows 10’s end-of-life.
The company confirmed that the latest Windows 11 Media Creation Tool, version 26100, is not working.
Windows 10 reaches its end-of-support on October 14, 2025, after which regular security updates stop.
- Users still running Windows 10 will need to buy Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates package.
- Alternatively, they can move over to Windows 11 to stay protected.
For now, Microsoft’s suggested workaround is pretty straightforward: skip the broken tool and download the ISO directly.
The ISO can be downloaded through the official Windows 11 download page by choosing “Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices.”
Arm64 users have their own link as well, and with that ISO, a bootable drive can be manually created using apps like Rufus or other image tools.
