Marshall Athletics' Future Excites New Director

Marshall Director of Athletics, Gerald Harrison, is optimistic about the future of the Thundering Herd amidst the changing college athletics landscape.

“That puts us in a little bit of a crunch to get student-athletes here before the drop/add date, but we do know that whatever team we have at that point in January, we know that’s the team that we will field—more than likely the majority of them—through the fall,”

Harrison cited the new rule establishing a single transfer portal window for college football players in January as a beneficial development. Although he noted it may be a year late, it marks an improvement, especially after significant turnover in the Marshall football program following head coach Charles Huff’s departure.

Harrison addressed the university’s Board of Governors, emphasizing the team's determination to adapt to challenges.

Author's summary: Harrison is excited about Marshall athletics' future.
