Poland Spring Reduces Water Pumping Amid Maine's Drought

With minimal rainfall and hundreds of wells running dry, the drought is a major concern for Mainers.

According to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, companies with significant groundwater wells must monitor water levels and reduce or halt pumping if levels drop too low.

The DEP is not aware of any water bottling operations required to reduce or stop withdrawals during this drought.

Poland Spring says it has already made cutbacks on its own, implementing a "significant" reduction in withdrawals at their clear spring site in Hollis and other locations across Maine as of September 1.

Author's summary: Poland Spring reduces water pumping in Maine amid drought.
