Chinese tech firm DJI, the US market leader in ag spray drones, is appealing a court ruling that upholds the Department of Defense's characterization of the firm as a "Chinese military company".
According to DJI, the designation has caused the company financial and reputational harm, as stated:
As a result of the designation, which branded it as a national security threat, DJI has suffered financial and reputational harm
The National Defense Authorization Act defines a Chinese military company as one that is directly or indirectly owned, controlled, or otherwise linked to the Chinese Communist Party, and contributes to China's "military-civil fusion industrial base".
DJI claims it does not meet this definition and is not a "Chinese military company".
