Salmon Spotting Season on Vancouver Island
Pacific salmon are returning to rivers and streams across Vancouver Island after traveling thousands of kilometers, with the peak season expected later this month.
According to the Pacific Salmon Foundation, salmon have already been spotted in Goldstream Provincial Park and in the Puntledge and Quinsam rivers.
“(This) is turning out to be a great year to spot salmon,”
said Michael Meneer, foundation president and CEO. He attributed the favorable conditions to ocean conditions and conservation work led by First Nations, streamkeepers, and grassroots groups across B.C.
