Mix-up delays Sudbury woman’s sentencing in stabbing case

Mix-up Delays Sentencing in Stabbing Case

Jessie Brave, a Sudbury woman, stabbed her neighbour in Chelmsford due to a dispute over dogs.

Her sentencing hearing, initially scheduled for Tuesday at the Sudbury Courthouse, has been delayed until November 26.

Sentencing is not proceeding today.

The delay was caused by a mix-up, where the Crown and defence failed to provide written materials to Ontario Court Justice Jenny Restoule-Mallozzi beforehand.

A half-day court session has been scheduled for the new sentencing hearing date.

Author's summary: Sentencing delayed due to mix-up.
