Drue Nicholas Reflects on a Season to Remember
Drue Nicholas, 23, has joined the late Jay Sigel in achieving a notable double by winning the BMW Philadelphia Amateur and the Philadelphia Open in the same year.
Nicholas, a recent graduate of Drexel University, never had the chance to meet Jay Sigel, America's best male amateur golfer since Bobby Jones. However, his golf performance this summer has put him alongside Sigel, who accomplished the same feat in 1987.
“It means a lot,” said Nicholas. “When they first said it to me I didn’t know it was a thing. Whenever you get your name mentioned in the same sentence with a guy like that it’s pretty cool.
Nicholas, a three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, has made a significant impact in the golfing world with his achievements.
