A proposal to connect Galveston and Pelican Island with a "land bridge" has been revisited, despite being a late entry in the debate.
The 60-year-old Pelican Island Bridge is the sole land route to the island, which hosts Texas A&M University at Galveston and various industrial companies.
The design isn’t a bad idea and would provide some benefits the approved design can’t.
However, this concept was already considered in 2018 by the Galveston Economic Development Partnership task force, making it an outdated solution.
