Accidental Shooting on Farm
A 43-year-old farmer from Thabazimbi has been arrested and charged with negligent handling of a firearm.
An 11-year-old boy accidentally shot a farmworker while shooting at guinea fowls, according to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
- The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left chest.
- The victim was declared dead on scene by paramedics.
- The firearm and cartridge were confiscated as part of the investigation.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has expressed concern over the incident and reiterated the importance of responsible firearm ownership.
The farmer and his son will appear in the Thabazimbi Magistrates' Court on Monday.
