House files sweeping property tax cuts package for voters, not lawmakers, to approve or reject

Property Tax Cuts Package Introduced

Florida voters may have the opportunity to reshape local property taxes in the 2026 Midterm election.

House Speaker Daniel Perez has unveiled a suite of property tax measures, which will be put to a vote by the public, not lawmakers.

If we have faith in the voters to elect us, we should not be afraid to let them be a part of the conversation about the taxes they pay.

All proposals exempt school taxes, which account for roughly 46% of school funding, and do not allow cuts to law enforcement funding.

Voters will be able to choose "some, all, or none" of the options on the 2026 ballot.
