Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns the escalation of violence against journalists in Ecuador during the national strike.

At least 55 journalists have been attacked since 22 September, including journalist and Apak TV producer Edison Muenala, who was seriously injured.

RSF calls for an immediate response and effective protection measures to ensure media professionals are not targeted while they carry out their work.

RSF aims to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported, producing daily publications and investigation reports from regional offices and a network of correspondents in 115 countries.
