Tough on Crime for a Safer City
Making our communities safer is the Mayor’s top priority. To achieve this, we must be tough on both violence and its complex causes.
The Metropolitan Police serve London 24/7, tackling crime and keeping the public safe. The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) oversees the Met Police to ensure it serves all Londoners, making London safer and fairer for everyone.
The causes of crime are complex, and simply arresting our way to a safer London is not enough. The Mayor is also focused on addressing the root causes of crime.

The Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan
The plan sets out the Mayor’s priorities for policing, crime, and community safety in London from 2025 to 2029, building on reductions in crimes like homicide, violence, and burglary since he took office.
