The Yakima City Council will face budget reductions regardless of the election outcome.
A $9 million shortfall has been identified, with $3 million in cuts to services already planned.
"Because the city has identified overall a $9 million shortfall," said Bud Backer, the chairman of Yes for Yakima. "They've already essentially set out what will be $3 million in cuts to services, and they're hoping that this levy, if it passes, will fill the other $6 million gap."
"But if you vote yes, we can maintain the services that we have today."
