The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has successfully recovered and returned more than $36,000 to a 67-year-old Butler County woman who was defrauded in a cryptocurrency scam.
According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Butler County Prosecutor Michael T., the recovery was a result of a thorough investigation.
"Technology drives innovation, but sometimes cybercriminals are behind the wheel," Yost said. "While we can help after the fact, your best defense is to be skeptical anytime a stranger asks you to make a financial transaction."
The scam began on December, with the woman losing a significant amount of money.
The successful recovery of funds highlights the importance of vigilance in financial transactions.
