World's Smallest 'Bioprinter'
The ingestible device could help patients heal from the inside.
Researchers from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) School of Engineering have created a pill-sized "ingestible bioprinter".
Using magnets and an infrared laser, the researchers can remotely guide a capsule toward ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract.
Once in place, the printer releases a living "bio-ink" to promote healthy cell repair.
