North Las Vegas Councilman Pushes for Tougher Traffic Laws

Following the death of 12-year-old Cristofer Suarez, who was hit by a car while walking to school, North Las Vegas Councilmember Isaac Barron is advocating for stricter traffic laws.

Suarez was struck by Oh'Ryan Brooks near the intersection of 21st and Owens, which falls under both North Las Vegas and Las Vegas jurisdiction.

"He wasn't someone who was faceless. He was part of our community, right?" - North Las Vegas Councilmember Isaac Barron

In response to the incident, crossing guards will be added to the intersection starting on Monday.

Suarez was a member of JD Smith Middle School's mariachi and left a lasting impact on the community, according to Barron.
