Dubai-Hong Kong Cargo Plane Crashes Off Runway, Two Dead
A cargo jet operated by ACT Airlines for Emirates SkyCargo crashed into the sea during landing at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday.
A Boeing 747 cargo plane flying from Dubai to Hong Kong veered off the north runway and ended up partially submerged in the sea at 3:50 a.m.
The aircraft reportedly broke apart on impact. All four crew members were safely rescued, according to airport authorities.
However, two people on the ground, believed to have been in a vehicle struck by the plane, were killed in the incident, according to local reports.
Emirates confirmed the plane carried no cargo and sustained major damage upon landing.
