Chase Briscoe had a solid weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, qualifying on the front row alongside Michael McDowell.
In a race with 77 lead changes among 27 drivers, Briscoe won the second stage and waited for an opportunity to strike.
That opportunity came when Kyle Larson ran out of fuel, and Briscoe took advantage of the last-lap chaos to battle Todd Gilliland and Bubba Wallace for the win.
Briscoe got an advantage in the tri-oval and held off Gilliland to win the YellaWood 500 by 0.145 seconds, with Ty Gibbs finishing third and Wallace fourth.
Author's note: Briscoe's win marked a significant moment in the Cup Series.
