Study: Real-time communication stresses German office workers

A recent survey by Atlassian reveals that more than half of German office workers (56 percent) feel overwhelmed by notifications or the pressure to respond immediately.

The study shows that 59 percent of respondents spend at least two hours daily answering emails or chat messages.

78 percent stated that they can hardly attend to their core work if they participate in all scheduled meetings.

Although 69 percent of respondents have flexible working hours, this flexibility does not necessarily lead to less stress, as employees are often expected to be available at short notice for meetings or to answer messages.

Author's summary: German office workers are stressed by real-time communication demands.
