Staffordshire Leader Reacts to "Squandered" Billions of Taxpayers' Money
The Leader of Staffordshire County Council, Ian Cooper, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the escalating cost of hotel accommodation for asylum seekers, calling it a "disgrace".
"The squandering of millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money on costly hotels is nothing short of a disgrace.”
A report by the Home Affairs Committee identified "flawed contracts" and "incompetent delivery" as the primary reasons for the Home Office's reliance on hotels as a long-term solution instead of temporary arrangements.
