AAO 2025 Meeting Highlights
The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) held its annual scientific meeting in Orlando, Florida, featuring new technologies and ongoing research.
Researchers from Massachusetts Eye and Ear presented a study using the TriNetX network, analyzing electronic health records of over 17,000 patients with and without xanthelasma.
The study revealed that patients with xanthelasma had a higher risk of cardiovascular events (14% vs 11.8%) and lipid disorders (50% vs 38%).
The analysis showed an elevated risk of cardiovascular events and higher rate of high cholesterol or other lipid disorders in the xanthelasma group.
