Researchers from Massachusetts Eye and Ear presented a study using the TriNetX network, analyzing electronic health records of over 17,000 patients with and without xanthelasma.

The study revealed that patients with xanthelasma had a higher risk of cardiovascular events (14% vs 11.8%) and lipid disorders (50% vs 38%).

The analysis showed an elevated risk of cardiovascular events and higher rate of high cholesterol or other lipid disorders in the xanthelasma group.
