Waymo Co-CEO Emphasizes Need for Safety Transparency
Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana stressed that rival autonomous vehicle companies must be more transparent about their safety data.
During an interview at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, Mawakana expressed her concerns, stating:
"I don’t know who’s on that list, because they’re not telling us what’s happening with their fleets."
Mawakana highlighted the importance of prioritizing safety while scaling operations, citing Waymo's recently released data, which indicates that the company's vehicles are five times safer than human drivers and 12 times safer with respect to pedestrians.
