Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar winner, has reflected on her early career interviews, calling them "embarrassing".
She told The New Yorker that doing press for movies made her feel like she lost control over her craft, saying:
Every time I do an interview, I think, ‘I can’t do this to myself again.’ I feel like I lose so much control over my craft when I have to do press for a movie.
Lawrence admitted that her off-the-cuff and silly interviews were a "defence mechanism", stating:
Well, it is, or it was, my genuine personality, but it was also a defence mechanism. And so it was a defence mechanism, to just be, like, ‘I’m not like that! I poop my pants every day!’
She also acknowledged that her past interviews could be annoying, even admitting that Ariana Grande's impression of her on SNL was "spot-on".
