Two projects aimed at revitalizing the Downtown Chatham Centre property have sparked optimism among local merchants.
After years of decline, with stores exiting the mall, the approval of a $52.8 million Chatham-Kent community hub project has brought new hope. The project will transform the former Sears building into a new home for city hall, a larger Chatham library branch, and the Chatham-Kent Museum.
Construction is set to begin in December, with the facility expected to open in early 2028. Additionally, the One Hundred King project will invest in the rest of the DCC property, creating a hub for shopping, dining, living, and entertainment.
