Nigel Farage suffered a defeat in the House of Commons as MPs voted down his proposal for the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.
Farage, the Reform UK leader, proposed a 10-minute rule bill to withdraw from the ECHR. Despite a largely empty Labour and Tory benches, dozens of Lib Dem MPs and opposition MPs from smaller parties attended, and Farage was heckled as he delivered his proposal.

The proposal was comfortably defeated by 154 votes to 96, a majority of 58.
