Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last Chinese Players Exit
China's last two representatives, Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan, lost in straight sets, while top seed Belinda Bencic continued her climb into the world top 10.
Zhang Shuai was defeated by Russia's Anna Kalinskaya with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-1 victory, followed by Bencic's win over Wang Yafan in one hour and 16 minutes, 6-2, 6-2.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
Bencic came to Hong Kong after winning the Japan Open, marking her sixth victory in a row, continuing her rise after being ranked "913 or something" a year ago.
