Despite this, US President Donald Trump has announced a peace deal between Israel and Hamas, potentially ending two years of violence.
Trump has repeatedly declared that he “deserves the prize”, claiming he has “ended seven wars” since 2017.
He stated at the UN General Assembly, “Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize for each one of these achievements.”
