Portadown Woman Jailed for Shoplifting Spree
A 30-year-old Portadown woman, Keara McKeown, has been jailed for a series of shoplifting incidents in the town.
McKeown, of Obins Avenue, stole approximately £500 worth of groceries in eight incidents during September and October.
In a separate incident on August 24, she stole two Amazon parcels containing items worth £26 that had been left at a property.
McKeown appeared at Craigavon Magistrates' Court via video link from prison, where her defence solicitor described her as having a "terrible record" and being "vulnerable" due to mental health and addiction issues.
The defendant has used heroin and cocaine "in the past" but is "still struggling with addiction to cannabis".
The solicitor's comments highlighted the complexities of McKeown's situation.
