They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
This Remembrance Sunday, on 9 November, services and parades will take place across Angus, including the laying of wreaths, to honor those who gave their lives defending our freedoms.
Angus Provost Craig Fotheringham urged everyone to join local events if possible, taking time to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. For those unable to attend, he asked that they take a moment of quiet reflection, alone or with loved ones, to remember the fallen.
Tuesday, 11 November, is Armistice Day — another chance to pay respects. At 11 a.m., people are encouraged to pause whatever they are doing and observe two minutes of silence in recognition of the courage and dedication of our Armed Services.
We must and will remember them.
Provost Fotheringham extended sincere thanks to the men and women serving our country, both at home and abroad. As they protect us, he emphasized, we must stand in support of them.
He also acknowledged the challenges of recent years, during which the harsh realities of conflict have been vividly portrayed across modern media.
Remembrance Sunday unites communities in gratitude and reflection, honoring those who sacrificed for freedom and recognizing the courage of those who continue to serve today.
